Still exercising, but not blogging

I've still been exercising at least ten minutes each day. Usually walking the dogs. I think I'm going to switch to posting about exercising on my main blog occasionally instead of this one every day. That way it won't be such a chore.

Day 51

Ken and I walked the dogs along the Trinity River trail. It was kind of yucky outside.

Day 50

We walked around target.

Ken and I walked the dogs again today.

Day 48

Ken and I walked the dogs. We went by the martial arts place and watched them for a little bit, then walked back home. A lady asked how much it would cost to pimp out Buster. We were like uuuuh he's too little. Awkward.

Today I cleaned even more. My house is actually starting to look half decent.

Day 39

Today is a serious cleaning day. It isn't even 4 and my legs are sore.

Day 38

I cleaned quite a bit and then we went to my mom's for Valentine's Day.

Day 44

Ken and I went to a nice restaurant downtown and we walked a little ways from the car to the restaurant. He proposed, and I said yes. :-) I'll post pictures another time.

Day 43

Ken and I walked around the mall.

Day 42

It snowed today. A lot. I tried to go to work but that didn't end up happening. I played in the snow for a good 20 minutes. I felt like a little kid again. I ran around with the dogs and built a snow woman and a snow dog. I also made snow angels.

Day 41

I worked on my arms and legs and abs today. I mostly held my arms/legs straight. I also did some headstands against the wall because they're fun.

Day 40

My poor neglected blog. I may not have been posting, but I have been exercising. I'll play catch up today. I worked on my arms and legs for my date with Ken on Friday, which ended up being Saturday.

Day 39

I did 5 lb free weights for 10 minutes. I also did ten girl/knee push ups. I've been neglecting my arms and just walking the dogs and I could feel it today when I was working out my arms.

Day 38

Ken and I went to Tuesday Morning and we found more dog backpacks! They had a really big one that has a water holder thing in it. We also found one for Gurdie. It says medium on it, but its bigger than the other mediums I got from the same brand. It's the size I thought I was buying for Bear off amazon.com. I think there was a mistake at the factory or something and they put the smalls in the medium packaging. But it's ok because now I have four backpacks total. All my doggies have jobs to do. I'm starting to get kind of bored walking the dogs though. I should find a new route to walk them along.

Day 37

After I got off work today I walked the dogs for 45 minutes then went to my mom's house and helped her clean for pokeno this week. I put together a bed and took apart one too.

Day 36

I walked the dogs late. We walked for about 40 minutes. It was cold.

Day 35

I walked the dogs again today. Cesar says to walk them for at least a half hour. We usually average about 45 minutes.

Day 34

I walked the dogs after work today. I didn't want to but I did it anyway.

Day 33

Ken and I walked around the mall and Target and Petco.

Day 32

I walked the dogs for abour an hour in the dark. We tried to job a bit and Gurdie Would. Not. Jog.

Day 31

I cleaned house, mostly the bathroom. I vaccuumed and swept and got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed the floor. I was sore the next day.

Day 29

I did ten minutes of static exercises. Then I did ten minutes of exercises with free weights.

Day 28

I did ten minutes of yoga stretches. I was really tired so that's all I did.

Day 27

Ken and the dogs and I walked more or less the same route we did last night. It was fun. The "Commie House" must have a pretty view during the day. I'll have to walk the same route when it's still light outside.

Day 26

I walked Buster and Bear around the block for about 5 minutes. Then I came back for Gurdie and Ken decided to come too. We walked for a long time. It was at least 45 minutes, maybe closer to an hour. I had fun. We walked to a different section of the neighborhood. There is one house with a really good view of the base and Ken started calling it the "Commie House" because it has such a good view lol. I had to keep shushing him.

Day 25

Today I got home and walked the dogs for a while. I walked all three first for about 20 minutes then I came back home, blew my nose, got a drink, and left Gurdie, she was slowin us down. Bear, Buster and I all walked for about 10 more minutes. Now I'm all energized and stuff. I first typed that as exergized lol. It's neat. Maybe this exercising thing isn't so bad after all.

I walked the dogs for twenty minutes in the rain. I also did the Feb. cosmo workout for another ten minutes.

Day 22

I did static exercises today for ten minutes. I also did headstands. I tried to get the dogs to do headstands, but they cried.

Day 21

I walked the dogs for at least ten minutes, probably closer to twenty. They were all pretty good. Gurdie doesn't run. at. all. Buster tried to bark at a dog on the first leg of the walk. He isn't allowed to bark, sniff, pee, or anything else when he wants to and I thought he knew that. He did much better on the last half of the walk. I guess he got tired.

1 rep of 20 armpit fat things

then ken told me to get rid of my armpit fat I need to hold at the point that my arms shake, so I did that for a while until my 10 minutes was over.

Day 19

I ellipticaled for 20 minutes. I do 5 minutes forward and 5 backward. 4 times I increased the resistance up to 8 for 30 seconds forward and 30 seconds backward.

Day 18

Even though I was off work I only did 10 minutes of walking around the store at a VERY leisurely pace and 5 minutes of chasing after my mom's new kittens. They run REALLY REALLY fast.

Day 17

I walked at the nature preserve with all three dogs and Ken for about 45 minutes. We walked around a little island. It was neat. People were canoeing and it looked like fun.

Then we went home and cleaned house and vacuumed. Then I ran with just Bear for about 15 minutes around the block. I drove it the other day and it's at least a mile. I also did some with my arms-

I did lunges and squats and weird snowboarding type things Ken told me to do. I did some with my arms and abs. 15 minutes. I also decided to take measurements:

Day 15

I almost forgot. I did some lunges and Bear thought I was playing or something. I did some arm things with 5 lb weights, the usual bicep curls and over the head thingies. I did one rep of 40 armpit fat things with the 2lb weights. It's supposed to be nice this weekend so I'm hoping to get in a good walk with the dogs.

Day 12


My arms are a bit sore from yesterday. I had to use up some PTO from last year and asked for today off, so I had some time on my hands and I walked the dogs for 30 minutes. What is the random picture of a honey dew melon in my fridge for? Funny you should ask...


We were a few minutes into the walk and this lady was outside calling after a truck that was leaving. She said hi and that I had pretty dogs and asked if I wanted a honey dew melon. I said sure?? She said they don't eat them and handed it to me and I turned around and took it home. Apparently Bear needs a bigger backpack or something lol.


So...do I eat it? Hmmm. That is the question.

Day 11

I walked around Bed, Bath and Beyond and Kohls for 10 minutes at a very leisurely pace. I also did-

5 lb weights:

2 sets of 20 reps of bicep curls
2 sets of 20 reps of over the head things

2 sets of 20 reps of armpit fat buster things (that sounds gross lol)

Day 10

Today it was 40 degrees or so. It's pretty sad that that feels warm. But it is much nicer to walk in 40 degree weather than 30 degree weather. I went to the nature preserve with all three dogs. We walked for an hour. We probably did a couple miles. I got there kind of late and so I was slightly paranoid about the park closing with me and the dogs in it, so I didn't exactly follow the trail all the way through. I walked for a half hour and then turned around. Bear wore his backpack and carried my camera for me. He also carried his poop (in a bag) which was pretty nifty lol. We saw buffalo and birds and a deer.

Day 9

It's still below freezing. I found out theres a dog park not too far away. I took Bear and Buster. We were the only people there lol. I walked and jogged a bit around the perimeter of the park. I only stepped in poop a couple times. They have some agility training stuff and Buster liked climbing on it. I need to start bringing my camera places with me.

I was active for at least 10 minutes. Probably more like 15 though. I had fun, the dogs liked havin the whole park to themselves even though it was a bit boring without any other dogs. Ken and I are going out tonight so I'll get more 'not sitting' time in too. :-)

Day 8

It's still freakin cold out. I walked at a leisurely pace around the mall for about 10 minutes in heels. Then I came home and was fairly active for a little while. Can you tell I was also tired and feeling rather lazy? Yeah.

Day 7

It's friggin cold outside. 25 degrees. Buster was acting like a complete monster so we went on a walk. While I was bundling myself and him up Bear was standin at the door like he wanted to come, so I grabbed a leash and the three of us went on a walk, a friggin cold walk. We did 10 minutes. No more, no less. It's friggin cold.

Day 6

My arms and legs were a little sore from yesterday. Weird.
It's freakin cold outside so today I did 20 minutes on the elliptical while watching Petticoat Junction. I alternated two minutes going forward and two backward. I slowly got up to resistance level 3.
After that I did 10 lunges forward and 10 backward. I did 20 squats.

3 lb weights:

2 sets of 20 bicep curls
2 sets of 20 over the head thingies

Off to take a shower now.

Today I was tired so I just did some yoga, sit ups, bench pressed the cat, and some jumping jacks. 10 minutes. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Day 4

I almost forgot to exercise today. It was my day off but I was busy/lazy. I did 10 minutes of yoga and old school calisthenics. Done. Now to make some pineapple coconut fro-yo with yogurt that I made.

Day 3

Yesterday Bear and I went to the nature preserve and walked about 4 miles. I actually really enjoyed it, but I was really tired, so, no post yesterday. I'm not too sore today.

Day 2

Today I walked Gurdie for 20 minutes. It was a slow 20 minutes. I think she got tired. Then I walked Bear and Buster at the same time for a slightly faster 30 minutes.

Arms-
with 2 lb weights
2 reps of 20 bicep curls
2 reps of 20 over the head thingies

Legs/butt/thighs-
with 2 lb weights
20 lunges forward
20 lunges backward
20 squats

I'm slightly sore from yesterday but nothing too bad. Tomorrow I'm gunna hurt... lunges don't like me. Also it's that time of month and my cramps weren't too bad this time. Maybe there is something to this whole exercising thing.

I also think I totally canceled out the exercising by eating two supersized s'mores, but whatever, they were GOOD.

Tomorrow I think I'll find a park and walk all three dogs at the same time because the neighborhood is getting a little old. I should drive my walking route and figure out how far I'm going. I think tomorrow I'll also hop onto the elliptical and actually get my heart rate up.

Day 1, The Begining

In case anyone does read this-
After watching Julie and Julia I wanted to jump on the 'do something everyday for a year' bandwagon. The cooking thing has already been done in multiple forms. I want to be healthier, tone, and maybe lose a few pounds. I'm not fat, but I'm REALLY out of shape. I hate exercising. I curse the entire time I'm on the elliptical and I don't like weather or being outside. I eat pretty healthy on the condition that it taste good.

This led me to the conclusion that I should exercise every day for at least ten minutes, for the whole year. I decided to blog about it because that's what all the cool kids are doing and blogging will help me keep track.

For the purposes of this exercise, pun indended, I am going to consider exercise to mean doing something that isn't sitting. This can be-

-walking the dogs, which really I should be doing every day, but it's freakin cold outside
-yoga
-doing something with a set of free weights
-elliptical
-wii fit
-fitness DVD
-sit ups, push ups
-etc

Today

20 minute walk with Buster, ran a couple times for a few minutes, saw and smelled horses
20 minute slow walk with Ken and Bear, didn't run much, saw and smelled the same horses
